What are Marker.io and BugHerd built for?

Marker.io

Marker.io

Marker.io is a widget and browser extension aimed at agencies reporting bugs on client sites, priced on three axes at once: seats, projects and page views. Reporters are a free role with no dashboard who follow their own issue from a link. Session replay, console logs, network requests and the Jira integration all start at Team. Its help centre states it has no built-in screen recording and suggests attaching a Loom link, and its MCP server is documented as open to every plan while in beta.

BugHerd

BugHerd

BugHerd is a pin-on-the-page feedback tool for agencies and studios, sold by team member with clients thrown in free. Feedback pins to the element on a live website, a Figma design, a PDF or an image, and every plan carries unlimited client users and unlimited projects. It captures a screenshot with the browser, the operating system and the URL, and the reporter can record a video. Session replay and console capture are not offered on any plan; LogRocket or FullStory sessions can be linked through an integration.

When should you choose Marker.io, and when BugHerd?

Marker.io

Choose Marker.io when

  • A developer has to be able to open the ticket and see what happened. Marker.io attaches session replay, console logs and network requests from Team; BugHerd captures none of the three on any plan.
  • Your projects run on Jira and you can reach Team. Marker.io syncs issues both ways there, and its Starter already connects GitHub, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Monday and Linear; BugHerd holds most of those at Premium.
  • You want the entry plan to be the cheapest on an annual bill. Marker.io's Starter is $39 a month billed annually for three users, under BugHerd's $42 for five, if three seats are enough.
  • Your clients report from inside Zendesk or Intercom. Marker.io connects both on Business; we found no support-desk integration on BugHerd's pricing page, and that cell is marked pending rather than answered.
BugHerd

Choose BugHerd when

  • What you review is not only a website. BugHerd pins feedback on Figma designs, PDFs and images the same way it pins them on a live page; Marker.io works on live sites and web apps.
  • You run many small client sites. BugHerd's projects are unlimited on every plan and its pricing page states no page-view figure; Marker.io caps Starter at ten projects and 5,000 page views a month.
  • The reporter needs to record what they saw. BugHerd lets the reporter record a video on every plan; Marker.io's help centre states it has no built-in screen recording.
  • The team fixing bugs is five people, not three. BugHerd's Standard carries five members; Marker.io's Starter carries three, and the next tier is Team at $149 a month billed annually.
Notarus

The third option

Where does Notarus fit?

Notarus keeps the premise both tools share, that the person reporting never pays, and moves the evidence to the free plan. Session replay, console logs, network requests and the environment arrive with every report on the free plan, the reporter can record the screen from the same widget, and the plan carries unlimited seats and 5 projects. Page views have a published ceiling on each plan, past which new replay pauses for the month while feedback keeps arriving. A named client access follows a project with its own key and is never a member of your organisation.

What it lacks is BugHerd's breadth of surface. Feedback is taken on a live web page only: no Figma file, no PDF, no image and no mobile SDK. There is no Zendesk or Intercom integration either, and no separate agency plan of the kind Marker.io sells.

Seats never move the bill, page views past a plan's ceiling pause new replay rather than adding a charge, and the three amounts are on the pricing page rather than behind a sales call.

What do buyers ask about Marker.io vs BugHerd?

Is Marker.io cheaper than BugHerd?

On an annual bill at the entry tier, yes by a little: Marker.io's Starter is $39 a month billed annually for three users against BugHerd's Standard at $42 for five members. Monthly, the order flips, $59 against $50. The real difference is what the next step costs: replay and console capture on Marker.io mean Team at $149 a month billed annually, while Jira on BugHerd means Premium at $125.

Does BugHerd capture console logs like Marker.io?

No. BugHerd's pricing page does not list console logs, network requests or session replay on any plan; what it captures automatically is a screenshot with the browser, the operating system and the page. Marker.io attaches all three from its Team plan and not on Starter.

Can either record the reporter's screen?

BugHerd can: video feedback recorded by the reporter is listed on every plan. Marker.io cannot natively; its help centre states there is no built-in screen recording and suggests recording with another tool and attaching the link.

Are clients free on both?

Yes, and it is the premise both tools are built on. Marker.io calls them reporters, a free and unlimited role with no dashboard who follow their issue from a link. BugHerd calls them client users, unlimited on every plan, and charges only for members. The difference is that BugHerd's projects are also unlimited, while Marker.io counts projects and page views.

Does Marker.io or BugHerd integrate with Jira?

Both do, and both hold Jira above the entry plan. Marker.io's Jira integration and two-way issue sync start on Team, $199 a month or $149 billed annually, while its Starter already connects GitHub, Trello, Asana, ClickUp, Monday and Linear. BugHerd's Jira, Asana, Linear, ClickUp and Monday integrations sit on Premium, $150 a month or $125 billed annually; its Standard plan connects Trello, Slack and GitHub. On an annual bill BugHerd's Jira step is the cheaper of the two.

Or try the third option on the free plan.

5 projects and unlimited seats, session replay included. No card.
